Why are Rudiments so hard to understand?

Problem: When I started teaching everyone told me to teach rudiments to my students. The problem I had was only those who have had years of training understood how to read and play rudiments. I ordered as many percussion books I could find and they all had the same problem. They show what the rudiment looks like but not how to play it. In fact, the way rudiments look in the PAS 40 rudiments chart is not how we encounter them in music, most of the time.

Solution: I studied what each of the rudiments looked like in normal music or how non percussionists would know how to read it and play it. Then showed from easy to hard how transition from easy to the PAS version. I have included two PDF's from the book with the accompaniment tracks to practice with. You can purchase the entire book as a reproducible PDF($25.95)  as a hard bound book($12.95).
